Perps prop firm rules: the daily loss limit is a hard breach.

Daily loss, max drawdown, static vs trailing, hard vs soft breach and the rest, with how each firm we track applies them.

Updated

What is a profit target?

The gain you need to pass the evaluation, as a percent of the starting balance. 10% on a $50K account means getting to $55,000. Funded accounts have no target.

What is the daily loss limit?

The most you can lose in one day. It's set from your balance or equity at the daily reset, and open PnL counts toward it at Vest, My Funded Perps and Tradeify 247. E8 sets it as a percent of the starting balance. A 3% limit on $50K is $1,500.

What's a hard breach vs a soft breach?

A hard breach fails the account for good: positions get closed and there's no reset. A soft breach only stops you for the day. Some futures prop firms treat the daily loss as soft. At every firm we track, hitting the daily loss limit is a hard breach that burns the account. Tradeify 247 sells a soft-breach add-on for its evaluations.

What is max drawdown?

The lowest your account can ever go. Touch it and the account fails. On a $50K account with 6%, the floor is $47,000.

Static vs trailing drawdown: what's the difference?

Static is set once at the start and never moves. Trailing follows your highest balance or equity up, so profits raise the floor. E8 One's dynamic drawdown moves up only on closed profit, then locks at the starting balance once your closed profit equals the drawdown. Tradeify 247's instant accounts trail your highest closed balance, trade by trade, and lock at the starting balance.

Does open PnL count toward the limits?

Yes at Vest, My Funded Perps and Tradeify 247. The limits are checked against equity, which includes open positions. A trade that's down $1,600 on a $1,500 daily limit fails the account even if you never close it. E8's perps docs don't spell it out.

What is a consistency rule?

A cap on how much of your profit can come from one day or one trade. E8 One's funded accounts have a 40% best-day rule: no single day can be more than 40% of your total profit. Tradeify 247's instant accounts need a 20% consistency score: your best day can't be more than 20% of your total profit. None of the other plans we track list one, and none have a time limit.

Can an account fail for not trading?

At My Funded Perps, yes: 30 days with no trade fails an evaluation and 7 days closes a funded account. E8 needs at least one closed trade every 60 days, and Tradeify 247 closes an account after 30 days with no trade. Vest doesn't list an inactivity rule.

Are news trading, bots and hedging allowed?

Depends on the firm. Hedging across your own accounts is banned wherever it's mentioned. Copying outside traders or services is banned at My Funded Perps. Tradeify 247 allows copy trading.
